In 1996, Hyundai introduced a true entry level sports coupe with the Hyundai Tiburon, or for some, the Hyundai Coupe. After production of the sports coupe stopped in 2009, it wasn't clear whether Hyundai will be out of offering for that market segment.
It was only this year light was shed off about Hyundai's replacement for the Tiburon. In 2007, Hyundai presented the Veloster at the Seoul Motor Show. Back at the time, it was still just a concept. Not a lot even think of it getting into production. But now, it's clear that the Veloster will indeed become the replacement for the Tiburon. There are rumors about the Veloster not wearing its own nameplate. Some are suggesting that the name will be change, there are also some who says the Veloster will be badged as a Tiburon. The only clear thing is that the road-going version will be about an 80 percent representation of the show car according to what Hyundai CEO John Krafcik has previously stated. If it's going to stick with the concept, then we can expect a standard of 140 horsepower 1.6L for the Veloster coupe. With it, it will promise at least 40 miles per gallon. However, the Sonata’s 2.0L turbocharged engine is an option and its possibility of being use as standard is high, especially for the performance variant. Pricing for the Veloster has not been release but expect an offering of not more than $20,000. You can talk about...
