AutomotiveStunning Hyundai Cars & How To Read Hyundai
I was in a mall recently when I saw an line of Hyundai cars on display, probably for advertising as they don't offer them for sale. When I asked the officer about the cars, he gladly explained everything, but hinted that purchases must be done at the nearest dealership. The cars on display were stunning. A white Hyundai Equus, a black Genesis, a yellow Genesis Coupe and a silver Sonata. While talking to the man, he gave me a short Hangul lesson on how to pronounce Hyundai properly. Normally, people pronounce Hyundai as "Yoon-die". Some say the name "Hoon-die". According to him, it should be "Hawn-day", with "hawn" pronounced the same way as "fawn" I actually know of this a few years back, from my Korean friends and former students, when when I was still teaching language ethics to Korean kids. Maybe I reverted back to using "Yoon-die" because almost everyone in my circle is pronouncing it that way, and perhaps I don't want to sound differently from them, fearing it's me who they will badged as wrong.
