Lexus LFA Driver Died Outside Nurburgring

Toyota's Lexus LFA is certainly one of the much awaited supercar in the industry. When it was publicly offered, it went sold out in a matter of days. But some of the people behind the LFA will not be able to see the car being delivered to its owner. And that includes the main man behind the wheels of the LFA.

Hiromu Naruse, Toyota's Head Test Driver and known as the Godfather of the LFA, died while diving just outside the Nurburgring race track in Germany. Naruse was driving a preproduction LFA when it went head-to-head with a BMW 3-Series.

According to the initial investigation, Naruse was taking a speedy turn and crossed into the opposing lane, colliding head-on with the BMW. The accident happened at the 410 Highway outside Nurburgring. Hiromu Naruse died instantly, while the the driver and the passenger of the BMW 3-Series are both in a critical condition. Both are being monitored at the intensive care unit.

Naruse is the test driver of one of the only two Lexus LFA prototypes. He is 67 at the time of his death. And considering his age, an accident like that is really something.

Naruse had been with Toyota since 1963 and is credited for giving Toyota his skills in helping shape and develop countless cars, including the Lexus LFA and the Toyota 2000GT.
