AutomotiveShould You Replace Your Old Car?
New cars are always nice to have, especially when you notice that your old one is starting to get less reliable. Using the same car for the last 10 years may make your car harder to maintain. How do you know if you are ready to purchase a new one? Believe it or not, even though your car is already decade old, there are still cases when it might be better to stick with it than spend loads of hard-earned cash to buy a new care.
The first question that you should ask yourself is whether you often use your car or not. Everything depends on this fact because a car that is hardly used is a car wasted. Though they are not used, these cars become defective and worthless overtime. Next consideration would be your budget. Do you really have the budget to purchase a big-ticket item such as a car? Or are you going to take a loan for it? Unless you really need to replace your old car, there's no point adding in to the monthly expenses your loan payments. If you cannot pay it in cash, better wait until you can. Times are tough these days. Better be conservative with your spending. How is the state of public transportation in your city an your country? Sometimes you will be amazed how cheaper and how more convenient it is to actually take the train or the bus than driving your own car. Imagine filling it up with gasoline, maintaining its health, and keeping it clean. If you plan to use the car just for commuting to and from work, why not just take public transportation if the situation permits it? Maybe a good rule of thumb is to check how much you are paying for maintenance costs of your old car. If your annual maintenance costs already amount to about a tenth of the price of the car that you are interested in, then that may be one clear sign that it's to move on with another vehicle.
