1988 Chrysler New Yorker in the Dump

During a recent visit to a friend, I was able to witness the sad fate of a once elegant car from Chrysler, the New Yorker.

At first I was not able to distinguish what kind of Chrysler was it. It's old and rusted, the badges, lights and hood damaged. Its owners were not able to maintain it, and I was told that after getting involved in a car accident in 1991, the car was never used again. It was bought in 1989.

But inside, the interior upholstery still has the sense of class. Its leather seating is still good, albeit dusty. The dashboard is cracked, but still elegant. Less the spider webs and the dust, I'd say the interior is as good as new.

The 1988 Chrysler New Yorker is the car of the rich and famous at the time of its production. It's in leverage with the likes of Rolls Royce and Mercedes Benz. It's elegant, fashionable, equipped with the best comfort features of its time, and most notable of all, it's a front-sheel drive. It also runs on an electronic fuel injected V6 power, appealing even for the sporty types.

I told my friend a car of this caliber does not deserve the dumpsite treatment. The compartment and the inside of the car serves as the family's stock room of unused, and/or forgotten things. I even told him he can still sell the car at a good price if it will be cleaned and repaired of the obvious damages. But all my efforts in convincing him to bring the car back to life failed. I guess this car is really destined to be in the dump.
